As a furniture upstyling professional, you might not be a marketing expert or want to be - but understanding the basics is crucial for your business to thrive.

Your goal should be to identify, target, and reach your ideal customers, as they are the ones who will pay for your product or service and help your business grow.

Target Market vs Ideal Customers

Jargon terms like target market and ideal customer are essentially one and the same thing. And it may help you to think of it this way. Your target market is a group of people who are receptive to your message and are willing and able to pay for your product or service. To find your target market, consider their geographic, demographic, and psychographic factors. Matching your message to your target market is essential to success.

Avoid Preachy Marketing

There's a fine line between educating your audience and preaching to them.

It's a common mistake, and I see it all the time in our industry. And that's understandable; you want people to understand the ethos that underpins your business and communicate that.

That said, t's easy to fall into the trap of trying to persuade or cajole people who are not and never will be interested in upcycling.

Instead, focus on those who share your passion for upcycling. Identify their traits and commonalities to build stronger connections and make a bigger impact.

Craft the Perfect Message

Try to understand your ideal customers and experiment with different approaches until you find what works best for you. Then, if you can get your message right, you'll avoid the biggest reason most businesses fail and achieve the success you deserve!
