Turning Setbacks into Success: The Inspiring Journey of Jennylyn Pringle and Fusion Mineral Paint

From facing early setbacks to pioneering a global paint empire, Jennylyn Pringle’s journey is a testament to determination, hard work, and the power of turning challenges into opportunities.

The Start: Setbacks as Catalysts

What do you do if, despite being raised by loving parents, they were so busy with two jobs each that there was little time for family holidays?

What happens when you get fired from your first proper job, branded “lazy”, and to top it off, your professional role model turns you down flat?

Well, if you’re Jennylyn Pringle, you get stuck in and start your own paint company – none other than the renowned Fusion Mineral Paint.

And, just to prove you’re not lazy, you take it from conception to the sales floor in just six short months.

An incredible feat of sheer determination and hard work by anyone’s standards.

Jennylyn: The Heart of Fusion Mineral Paint's Success

The driving force behind the brand, Jennylyn Pringle, leads this highly successful company with passion, inspiration, and heart.

No strangers to hard work, both her parents held full-time positions and managed a paint business as a “side hustle” in the hope that one day it would help fund their retirement.

From a very early age, Jennylyn knew the value of work, but she also understood the creative and therapeutic possibilities of paint.

She was hands-on, helping her parents in all aspects of the paint business, so it was really no surprise when she took over the reins, and FMP is now one of the most successful paint brands used and enjoyed by furniture painters and DIYers the world over.

Lessons Learned

But success didn’t come overnight, nor was it a walk in the park. Invaluable life lessons were learned along the way.

In a live conversation within our Facebook community, TFAC coach Charlotte Williams interviewed Jennylyn, who shared her insights openly.

One of our first topics for discussion revolved around defining what “success” means.

“Success” may mean making plenty of money for one person, but it could mean having 1000 followers on social media for another or giving up full-time work to turn your hobby into a business.

We all view success differently, so define yours because that’s the only way to know when you’ve achieved it.

And not only define it but keep revisiting it to check it’s still relevant.

Jennylyn wanted to create a paint brand that was easy (and quick) to use and gave a beautiful smooth, flat finish.

“Success” to her was getting a product to market that ticked all those boxes and enabled her to earn a living doing it.

So, she worked hard every day for ten years to achieve her goal.

The results speak for themselves.

But if you asked her what “success” means today, it’s a very different definition.

Today “success” is more about organising her business and her time, so she can relish parenting moments with her son, take time for herself, indulge in a little self-care, and enjoy her career.

Over the years, she has learned that whilst passion, heart, and drive are key to running a successful entrepreneurial business, you must be able to enjoy your success when you achieve it. The key to that is recognising the signs of possible burnout.

As Jennylyn explained,

“It’s essential to take time out to recharge your batteries, indulge in your hobbies, spend time away from work with family and friends, and remember why you are doing this in the first place.”

Crafting a Solid Business Strategy

It’s no surprise that to run a successful business, you must have a guiding plan, that flexes with the ups and downs of your business.

But that strategy must be revisited regularly to ensure it’s still working for you and still relevant.

Another sage piece of advice from Jennylyn is to know your strengths and get help in areas where you do not excel.

For example, you may be the creative force behind your business, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be a brilliant accountant or marketer.

So, spend some time and money on your business support network. It will pay dividends. Not only will you be able to delegate tasks you don’t enjoy doing, but you’ll free up time and energy for stuff you’re great at.

Embracing Challenges with Passion

Finally, Jennylyn discussed the challenges of heading up an ever-evolving and expanding business.

She told us you must be passionate and love what you do. And bear in mind that with more customers and more success come more challenges to overcome.

But as she says,

“It’s a wild ride, so hang on tight!”

I couldn’t have said it better myself!

Jennylyn Pringle's inspiring journey from setbacks to success showcases the impact of hard work, resilience, and a willingness to adapt.

Fusion Mineral Paint's global influence is a testament to her commitment, and her insights offer valuable wisdom for aspiring creative entrepreneurs.

By constantly redefining success, nurturing a solid strategy, and embracing challenges with empathy and passion, it is possible to turn setbacks into stepping stones on the path to success.
